Insights on wages: labour at 25.3%, a bar for each day’s wages, and each day’s budget, rota and actual figures.
The Insights brief: the rota puts labour at 25.3%, inside the 16–28% target, and Sunday is heavy against its budget. Under it: sales £23,500, wages £4,935, labour 25.3%, sales per hour £58.90.

In short

  • We cannot tell you Yes Chef is the cheapest. We do not publish a price. This page sets out what the others publish.
  • Of 19 back-of-house products whose sites we read, four publish a price in pounds: Deputy, RotaCloud, Planday and Trail.
  • For one site and 25 staff, published rota plans run from £60.00 to £129.75 a month before VAT. Trail’s checks are £38 to £82.50 per site per month on monthly billing.
  • The headline price is rarely the bill. Look for add-ons, user minimums, 12-month terms and set-up fees.

Who publishes a price in pounds

We read the sites of 19 back-of-house products on 13 October 2026. Four showed a price in pounds. Here they are, with the terms that sit beside the headline figure.

Who does not

These companies showed no price on the pages we read. You ask for a demo or a quote:

No published price is not a criticism. Opsyte, for one, says it quotes by sites, team size and modules. It does mean you cannot compare them from a desk.

Three more publish a price, but not in pounds. FoodDocs lists US dollars per site per month: Lite $99 monthly or $79 on annual billing, Standard $199 or $167, Professional $299 or $250, with an onboarding fee listed of $999 on Lite and $1,249 on Standard (FoodDocs pricing). MarketMan lists Starter $249 per month, Growth $299 and Enterprise from $449 (MarketMan pricing). 7shifts published no UK pricing (7shifts pricing). All as published on 13 October 2026; we have not converted them.

The sum for one site and 25 staff

Per-user and per-band prices only mean something against a real team. This is one restaurant with 25 people. The sums are ours; check them.

Rota products. Our arithmetic from prices published on 13 October 2026. Excludes VAT. The plans do not all contain the same things.

Checks are priced per site, not per person, so they do not belong in that table. Trail for one site is £38, £75 or £82.50 a month on monthly billing, depending on the plan.

So the lowest published figure we found for a 25-person rota was RotaCloud Standard at £60 a month, and for checks, Trail Team at £38 a month, or £32 on yearly billing. Both are statements about 13 October 2026, and neither is the whole bill.

The extras that change the bill

  • Add-ons. RotaCloud’s £60 is the rota without clocking in. The “Time & Attendance” add-on is shown as 27 for that band, without a currency sign or a period; read as pounds per month, the total is £87. Deputy’s HR add-on at £2 per user is another £50 a month for 25 people.
  • Minimums. Planday Starter bills at least 5 users and Plus at least 10. Deputy’s monthly plans have a £20 minimum per invoice. These matter to a small team.
  • Term. Trail’s pricing page says all plans run on 12-month terms. RotaCloud says no contract. Ask everyone else.
  • Set-up fees. RotaCloud states none. FoodDocs lists one. Most pages do not say.
  • Annual or monthly billing. Deputy and Trail both show a lower figure for paying yearly. Compare annual with annual.

One bill or several

A restaurant with a rota tool and a checks tool pays two bills. On the same 25-person site, with published prices:

  • Monthly billing: Deputy Lite £90.00 + Trail Standard £75.00 = £165.00 a month.
  • Annual billing: Deputy Lite £81.25 + Trail Standard £65.00 = £146.25 a month.
The week’s rota on an iPhone: 53 shifts, 399 hours and labour at 25%, with the kitchen’s shifts for each day of 5 to 11 October.
The checks list: a score of 10, seven on time, none late or missed, then the day’s checks, each done one with its time and the name of who did it.
The two jobs in that sum, as they look in one app: the rota and the checks in Yes Chef. Demo data.

That is rota and checks. Stock, ordering and sales reporting are further tools again, mostly without a published price. An all-in-one replaces several of those bills with one, but whether it is cheaper depends on a quote you have not seen yet, ours included.

Wages by day: a bar chart of the week, then each day’s budget, the rota’s cost and the actual wages, Monday to Saturday.
Wages by day against the budget and the rota, as Yes Chef reports them. Demo data.

What Yes Chef costs

We do not publish a price, so this page cannot tell you Yes Chef is the cheapest, and it does not. Yes Chef is new and is offered to a limited number of restaurants, each set up by us: your sites, people, menu and checks. There is no sign-up form and no free trial, and there is no price on this site. To get one, you ask.

If you want a figure for yours, write to us with your number of sites and staff and the till you use, and put the six questions above to us. If what you need is a rota alone or checks alone, one of the published prices on this page is likely to be the simpler purchase. For what Yes Chef does and does not do, see the guide to restaurant management software.
