Nory and Yes Chef compared: what each covers and who each is for

Yes Chef makes restaurant management software. This page is written by us; competitor details are from their own sites on the date shown.

Insights for 5 to 11 October: a brief saying labour is at 25.3% against a 16–28% target, then sales £23,500, wages £4,935 and sales per hour £58.90.
The week’s rota on an iPhone: 53 shifts, 399 hours and labour at 25%, with the kitchen’s shifts for each day of 5 to 11 October.
Yes Chef’s side of the comparison: the week’s sales and labour, and the rota. Demo data.

In short

  • Nory’s core is inventory, ordering and payroll for multi-site and growing brands. Yes Chef has none of those three.
  • Yes Chef covers rota, food-safety checks, sales and menu in one app, for a limited number of restaurants that we set up ourselves.
  • Neither publishes a price.
  • Nothing is imported from Nory. A restaurant moving over is set up afresh.

Why this is a comparison, not a switching page

We have pages on moving from Deputy and from Trail, because Yes Chef does the job those products do. Nory is different. Its core is inventory, ordering and payroll, which Yes Chef has not built. For most Nory customers Yes Chef is not a replacement, and it would be misleading to write as if it were.

So this page sets the two side by side, says who each is for, and is plain about the fact that nothing moves automatically between them.

What each one is

Nory describes itself as a restaurant operating system for multi-site and growing brands: sales forecasting and business intelligence, inventory and ordering, workforce (the rota), payroll, and a financing arm (nory.ai, 13 October 2026).

Yes Chef is one app for a restaurant’s rota and people, food-safety checks, sales picture and menu, with a chat, Ask Yes Chef, that answers from the restaurant’s own data and can make a change once you tap to confirm. It is new, and it is offered to a limited number of restaurants that we set up ourselves.

Ask Yes Chef on an iPhone. The question “Who’s on tonight?” is sent; it reads the rota and answers with the people on shift, each with their hours and area.
Ask Yes Chef answering “Who’s on tonight?” from the rota. Demo data.

Who should choose Nory

  • You need stock and ordering handled. This is the centre of Nory and absent from Yes Chef.
  • You want payroll in the same system. Yes Chef gives you a file to take elsewhere.
  • You run several sites, or plan to. Nory says it is built for multi-site and growing brands.
  • Your till is not SumUp POS Pro. Nory lists a long run of tills. We connect to one.
  • You want an established supplier. Yes Chef is new, with no customer numbers, case studies or awards to cite.

Who might look at Yes Chef

A restaurant whose daily work is the rota, the checks and the service, more than the stockroom. What Yes Chef has that the table does not show in full: team messaging, meetings, training, onboarding and probation on the people side; menus, recipes, a prep list, waste logging, a kitchen wall screen and a printed-menu designer on the kitchen side; task boards; and the chat across all of it. You can watch it working on the home page.

Training: counts of what is signed off and coming up, and the trainings listed by menu, onboarding and front-of-house skills.
Waste logging: the menu’s items by category, to tap the one that was wasted.
Two of the parts named above: training, and waste logging by menu item. Demo data.

The same limits apply here as everywhere on this site: no Android app, one till, no published price, no free trial and no sign-up form.

Moving between them

Nothing is imported from Nory. There is no importer and we do not bring any data across. A restaurant coming from Nory is set up afresh by us: sites, people, menu and checks. And because Yes Chef has no stock or ordering, you would need to keep, or replace, whatever does that job for you now.

Other Nory alternatives

If you are looking for something that does what Nory does, these are closer to it than we are. None publishes a price in pounds.

  • Opsyte: UK hospitality back office with rota, payroll, HR, tronc, cashing up, invoice processing and P&L (opsyte.com).
  • Fourth: enterprise suite for large groups covering workforce, inventory and purchasing, and analytics (uk.fourth.com).
  • Apicbase: menu engineering, procurement, stock and sales analytics; its entry plan starts from 5 outlets (Apicbase pricing).
  • MarketMan: stock, recipe costing, supplier ordering and invoice scanning, priced in US dollars (MarketMan pricing).
  • Tenzo: reporting and forecasting across till, labour and stock data, sitting on top of other tools (gotenzo.com).

All as published on 13 October 2026. There is more on each in the guide to restaurant management software.
